Return To Play Protocol

The health and safety of our BYL community members is our top priority. We are excited to be able to offer the BYL Program, but we must all work together to keep ourselves and each other safe.


It is the responsibility of all players, parents/guardians, and staff to follow the guidelines outlined below. Please review these protocols with your player to ensure they fully understand and commit to following. BYL reserves the right to ask any player or parent not complying to leave the session.


STAFF: Coaches & Chaperones will:

  • Wear face masks while providing instruction

  • Be assigned to specific field areas and drills

  • Provide marked meeting places for attendees with cones marked 6 feet apart for each player to store their bag and water

  • Monitor the field to avoid players gatherings or interfering with another training group

  • Model and ensure social distancing guidelines are followed to, from and on the field.

  • Will have hand sanitizer & antibacterial wipes on them at their session, and both will be available around the field, and at the entrance/exit, and meeting spaces

  • Should sanitize hands before and after play.


PLAYERS: All age groups

  • Players should arrive dressed to play before entering the field area.

  • Meet your coach at your designated meeting area. Social distancing guidelines are to be followed to and from the field.

  • Required to wear face masks on sidelines

  • Are not permitted to share equipment of any kind

  • Are not permitted to share water bottles or sports drinks.

  • Must bring their own water bottle(s) and they must be well marked with names.

  • Should sanitize hands before and after play

  • When engaged in play or awaiting a drill, should not touch each other

  • No high fives, fist bumps, or any touching between players, coaches, parents

  • All players are required to have a signed waiver before the start of play



  • Should wear masks if they are getting out of the car at drop off/pick up.

  • Will sanitize hands before and after drop off/pick up.

  • Should always practice and model social distancing by remaining at least 6 feet away from others.

  • Should adhere to all site-specific rules, regulations, and posted signage by permitted facility.

  • Will be permitted to watch the session, but only those serving as chaperones will

        be permitted on the playing surface.

  • Upon completion of each event, players/parents must leave the field area as quickly as possible. There is no loitering anywhere on the premises



The Porta-potties near the hockey rink will not be accessible to players/parents


Please understand that these protocols are in alignment with guidance from the state and Town of Belmont and are therefore are subject to change.  We will continue to monitor these guidelines as the situation evolves and adjust as necessary. We will notify you of these changes should they arise. BYL reserves the right to require more rigorous standards based on participant behavior and as we deem appropriate to ensure participant and public safety.

Belmont Youth Lacrosse is a 501 c (3) non-profit volunteer organization offering lacrosse programs for both boys and girls in grades K-8 who live in or go to school in Belmont.  New players are welcome at any age level.


BYL Girls teams are members of the Founder’s Girls Lacrosse League FGLL (

BYL Boys teams participate in the Massachusetts Bay Youth Lacrosse League (


Age Eligibility and Team Assignments

  • Classic K/1/2 - K/1st / 2nd grade boys and girls *
  • Classic 3/4 - 3rd / 4th grade boys and girls
  • Classic 5/6 - 5th / 6th grade boys and girls
  • Classic 7/8 - 7th / 8th grade boys and girls
  • Select 5/6 - Boys 5th / 6th Grade Team
  • Select 7/8 - Boys 7th / 8th Grade Team

Time Commitment Expectation

  • 2 practices per week; 1 game on Sunday (8 week schedule)
  • *U9 boys and girls will play an abbreviated 4 game schedule and have 1 practice per week.
  • Pre-season Sunday night lacrosse indoor training sessions will begin in March 2019 at Belmont High School.
