| Belmont Youth Lacrosse is a nonprofit 501c volunteer organization dedicated to bringing sport of lacrosse to boys and girls, ages 9 to 15, in Belmont. We support U11, U13, and U15 teams playing in Massachusetts, as well as providing fall instructional clinics and resources for additional playing and training opportunities. Boys play in the MBYLL, girls play in the MBGLL.

posted 07/19/2010 Dear Belmont Youth Lacrosse Families,
As many of you know, freshman athletic teams at Belmont High School as well as Chenery intramurals and cross country have been removed from the high school budget for 2010-11. A new group, Friends of Belmont Athletics, has been formed to raise funds privately to restore those programs for our students.
Although Belmont High School does not have freshman level lacrosse teams, Belmont Youth Lacrosse supports any effort that helps student-athletes in any way. We also support a strong connection between youth programs and the high school programs, as we prepare and they welcome our athletics to play in high school. Successful athletic teams at all levels are a source of pride and achievement for players, an opportunity for students to learn important lessons outside the classroom, and build a more cohesive community within and beyond the school. Freshman-level teams in particular introduce players to sports, enable players to participate safely before they achieve their full growth, and prepare players for higher levels of competition.
To restore freshman sports, the Friends of Belmont Athletics must raise:
-
$27,435 by August 1 for fall sports/programs
-
$10,728 by November 1 for winter sports/programs
-
$14,118 by February 1 for spring sports/programs
A meeting of FBA will be held tonight, Monday, July 19, at 7 pm in the Flett Room of Belmont Public Library to present their plans for saving these programs. If you cannot attend tonight’s meeting but still wish to donate, FBA has shared the following information with BYL:
